Mumbai: Hindi film and TV actor-director Parvin Dabas, 50, suffered injuries in a road accident at Hill Road, Bandra, early Saturday morning. He was admitted to Holy Family Hospital nearby. Police said no FIR has been registered.
According to the police, Dabas was returning from a shoot around 5.30 am. He was driving a car and was its sole occupant. “He was temporarily blinded due to the headlights of an oncoming vehicle and rammed into the divider on Hill Road,” said an officer.
He was admitted to hospital thereafter, and his family was informed. His wife actress Preeti Jhangiani rushed to attend to him. The hospital declined comment.
Dabas has featured in ‘Monsoon Wedding’, ‘Khosla ka Ghosla’, ‘The Hero’ and ‘Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Maara’ apart from the TV series ‘Bestsellers’.

Parvin Dabas met with a car accident while driving back from work in Bandra in the early hours of Saturday morning. Talking about his accident, his wife, actor-producer Preeti Jhangiani, said, “Parvin has been quite occupied for a few days and has been working late nights for the upcoming season of the Pro Panja League. On his way back, his car banged into a divider at around 5 am.
Due to this, he injured his back and has a very bad concussion. He was feeling nauseous, dizzy and his vision was not clear. His legs were shaky, too. His condition has not improved. We have done all the scans, MRIs, CT Scan X-rays, and we will have more clarity soon, especially why his vision is not yet clear.”
Parvin, who has acted in films like Monsoon Wedding, My Name Is Khan and Ragini MMS 2, was last seen in Sharmajee Ki Beti this year.
Speaking about how he was rushed to the hospital, Preeti added, “Thankfully, two boys saw the car and dragged him out of the car and made him sit on the sidewalk for some time. With the help of two other people, they rushed him to the Holy Family Hospital in Bandra. They left while we were in the ICU. I didn’t get a chance to thank them. I request them to connect with me so I can thank them. Parvin is a stickler for rules. All his reports were clear, and he was wearing his seatbelt. He will continue to stay in the ICU for a couple of days at the hospital. He is currently unable to move. We are also thinking about the possibility of pushing the dates of the league as Parvin is the director, and a ship can’t sail without its captain.”

Two days after Parvin Dabas met with an accident and was hospitalized, his wife Preeti Jhangiani speaks out for the first time about what happened
Navya Kharbanda (HINDUSTAN TIMES; September 23, 2024)
Actor Preeti Jhangiani, wife of actor-director Parvin Dabas, who is in the ICU with grievous injuries, following a car accident in the early hours of Saturday in Mumbai, has spoken out for the first time since the unfortunate incident.
“It’s a shock, we’re still coping with it emotionally. He is usually very active and doesn’t stop talking about work even for a minute. To see him lying down and not his active self, is disturbing for the family,” she shares.
Calling it a “case of bad luck”, she tells us how the accident occurred: “He was driving early morning after working all night. A flash of headlights caused him to crash the car into the divider. Luckily, he was close to the hospital and two boys brought him in.”
The 44-year-old, who has been by her husband’s side at the hospital, says he is suffering from a concussion. “He has dizziness, double vision, drowsiness and nausea — signs of a concussion. He hasn’t been able to speak too much. Thankfully, his medical reports — MRI and CT scan — were clear. He will stay in the hospital for another week and will be out of ICU soon. We will do another CT scan in three days.”
Jhangiani says that they’ve done a toxicology test. “He wasn’t drinking and driving. It has been ruled out in the police report,” she ends.
