The debate over who deserves the credit for the massive success of Stree 2: Sarkate Ka Aatank has fans passionately discussing it online. However, there’s one point everyone seems to agree on — the film’s story and dialogue.
Niren Bhatt, the creative force behind the film’s story and screenplay, is well aware of the ongoing discussions surrounding credit. “I’m aware of the chatter about who deserves the credit. I think some narratives are shaped by fan clubs... But at the end of the day, people recognize it as a piece of art, and everyone involved plays an equally important role... There are a lot of people behind the success of a film.”
Bhatt notes that, especially with big films, the writing often doesn’t get the recognition it deserves. “But this time,” he says with a smile, “people are talking about the film’s writing. I consider myself fortunate.”
He also references the docuseries Angry Young Men, which delves into the influential role that writers Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar played in shaping Indian cinema during the 1970s and ’80s.
“More people are getting inspired to create quality content, reinforcing the idea that good storytelling is the foundation of cinema. It’s never been about a particular formula, genre or star. Even the biggest stars need strong scripts to carry a film,” he concludes.
