It’s been quite some time that Kalki Koechlin manifested to be a part of a biopic. Her wish is yet to come true. Last seen in Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, she tells us that while she’s been waiting for an opportunity like that and has spoken about it before too, she hasn’t received any offers yet.
She shares, “I am not close to my dream at all. No script has come my way. I am still waiting for that to happen.”
Ask her what sort of biopic she’s hoping to get and she shares, “Any biopic of a historical figure is good for me. Just that the story should be worth telling. Something that they changed the course of history. That is what is interesting to tell… a story about someone who changed the course of history.”
The actress shares that there are fewer biopics on women than men. She elaborates saying, “I want to be a part of a biopic based on a female protagonist. I feel there are fewer biopics on women than men. I guess that’s because history remembers its men more as we have lived in a patriarchal world. So, to dig up these stories of women who have done incredible things is quite challenging.”
So, if Kalki had to step into the shoes of a protagonist in a female biopic, whose biopic would that be? She signs off saying, “I have said this before too that Sister Nivedita is someone who I would love to portray on screen. She is someone who influenced the education system in India for women.”
Sister Nivedita is an Irish teacher, author, social activist, school founder and disciple of Swami Vivekananda.
