‘CREATING
REELS AFTER
A NEW SONG
RELEASE IS
STRESSFUL’

Of late, post-release of their songs, one of the biggest commitments that singers have to deal with is releasing catchy Reels on Instagram. Singer-songwriter Neha Bhasin, too, feels “stressed” about cutting such videos. “There’s a lot of stress to make Reels [these days] because of the assumption that if a song doesn’t get picked on Reels, it doesn’t do well,” says Bhasin, who recently released her single, Furqat.

“I try to use my connections to collab on creating these Reels. But I’m not sure if that’s the way to go about it,” she shares, adding, “It’s not like my songs didn’t trend on Instagram. In fact, there have been times when two or three songs of mine started trending simultaneously.”

The singer of Dhunki (Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, 2011) fame asserts that popularity as a Reel can’t be the metric of success for any track. “There’s no fixed formula to it. You are being stupid if you are trying to recreate the success of one song for another. Also, not every song you make will get the same kind of response, and that’s alright for me!” shares Bhasin.

Emphasising that songs need to be evergreen, the singer adds, “Adele (singer) once said that she has to make music for people in her generation as well. If we make music only to cater to the current generation, the others will feel alienated.”
