Ishita Moitra, writer for the Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh, starrer Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani says she is proud of how the former's character panned out onscreen.

She says, "In the past, I have written women-centric characters for Shakuntala Devi, web series, Four More Shots. However, the character I am most proud of is Alia Bhatt’s portrayal of Rani Chatterjee. I loved how a strong woman could be a mainstream Hindi film heroine – who is lovable and intelligent at the same time. We didn't have to portray her as dumb just to make her look cute. As a young girl who grew up watching rom-coms, I longed to see women with jobs, opinions, and a vision for themselves who didn't have to shrink themselves to find love. One of my favourite scenes is Poonam (Rocky's mother) and Rani having a conversation about “Jab seva ek tarfaa ho, to usey seva nahin ghulami kehte hain.”
