Be it for Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani or Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, filmmakers often head to Gulmarg and Sonamarg when they wish to film a song against the backdrop of snow-clad mountains within the country. Every year, until mid-January, several regions of the Himalayas receive fresh snowfall, which results in a surge in shooting requests from filmmakers. This year, however, there have been no such requests yet.

A line producer who has assisted in several shoots in J&K says, “After heavy snowfall, we receive several requests from filmmakers for shoots. While song shoots happen from March-May, requests start pouring in from December. But this year, since there has been no snowfall, we haven’t received any shooting requests yet.”

Another line producer for films like Satyaprem Ki Katha and Dunki, shares, “At present, we don’t have any requests from filmmakers. No Bollywood film recce is lined up for February or March. When it comes to shooting song sequences, Gulmarg and Sonamarg are favourite destinations among filmmakers. But this year, due to the lack of snow, filming requests have dried up.”
