WHY
SANYA IS
‘PROUD’ OF
HERSELF
FOR THE

YEARS
The actor is ready to face the new year head-on, which would hopefully include working in a South film and learning to slow down

For Sanya Malhotra, 2023 was all about taking a much-needed break from work. Now, the actor is in the swing of things as this year began on a high with her film Mrs. premiering at the Palm Springs International Film Festival in California (USA). She says, “The film has turned out well. I am proud of myself and I don’t say that easily about my performance. For the first time, in seven years, I’m proud of what I have done.”

As she starts a new year, the 31-year-old declares that she “never makes” any resolution as “I am quite disciplined”. “I want to enjoy more and not worry about things. I’m always on the run. Maybe this year I can learn to take time off,” she says.

However, the Sam Bahadur (2023) actor does have one item she wants to tick off her list of things to do — work in a film in the South. Malhotra was seen in Jawan (2023), a pan-India film that was dubbed and released in different languages. She has also played a Tamil-speaking character in Meenakshi Sundareshwar (2021). Now the actor is ready to take the plunge: “Maybe this year, I will work in the South. I have had a connection with Jawan and Meenakshi…. and I would love to do films in the South. I am waiting for the right opportunity.”
