Sanya Malhotra was recently seen in Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, which she says is the “biggest film in her filmography”, and the actress started her career with Aamir Khan’s Dangal. Having worked with the two superstars, she tells us about the traits that she finds similar among these two Khans.
“I feel very lucky to have films like Dangal and Jawanin my career. Both Babita (Dangal) and Eeram (Jawan) are strong characters. Dangal led the foundation and conditioned me as an actor. I have worked very hard for all the films that I have been a part of in the past seven years since,” she says.
Speaking of the Khans, Sanya revealed, “They are both very passionate. The love they have for people and the way they make you feel comfortable is what is common between them. Not once did Shah Rukh sir make me feel like I was working with a superstar during Jawan. He is very easy-going. He once told me not to overthink things. He sensed that I am an overthinker, as I was nervous while working with stalwarts. I used to veil it, but he could see through me. He told me, ‘Dil ki suno, dimaag ki nahi,’ and that stayed with me. It teaches you to always be in the present. In acting, when you follow this, you can live a character fully.”
Sanya adds that she was happiest when she got to shake a leg with SRK in Zinda Banda. “When that happened, I couldn’t wait to call my mom and tell her about it. The whole thing was a surreal feeling. I love dancing and I got a chance to do it with my favourite person! He was so dedicated. He didn’t take a breather and it was very hot in Chennai while shooting it. I manifested working with SRK and that happened. I have also been manifesting a dance film with Shahid Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. They are good dancers. Let’s see how that goes,” she said.
