Rockstar DSP aka Devi Sri Prasad is basking in the well-wishes coming his way since he won the National Film Award for Best Music Direction for Pushpa: The Rise - Part 01 (2021). Calling his win a “miracle that can never be forgotten”, the composer says he has seen an increase in the number of Hindi film offers coming his way.

“Music has no language and this win reaffirms that belief. This is probably the first time that all songs from an album are a hit in all languages and went global, too. I am doing (actor) Ajay Devgn sir and Maddy sir’s (R Madhavan; actor) horror film next. I don’t want to take up just about everything though,” he shares.

Prasad has signed on to compose the music for Pushpa 2 - The Rule. With several songs — Oo Antava, Srivalli, Saami Saami — from the first film being popular, ask if he feels the pressure to live up to it, and the 44-year-old says, “I have completed a few songs already [for the film] and am working on the rest. I don’t call myself a composer, but a music lover. When I put myself in the chair of a music director, it becomes a designation. Music is an expression, why do I need to match that again? I made Ringa Ringa for Arya 2 (2009). People asked me the same question when I was composing for both the Arya films. I don’t take tension. We have to think beyond the first one. We need to let the magic [of the first film] go, so we have a clear mind. Pushpa 2 is shaping up great.”
