It’s finally happening, and nobody is happier about it than Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The filmmaker, who had carried the story of Baiju Bawra in his heart for decades, is ready to give it shape now. It is heard that the period drama, centred on the famed singer, will go on floors in February 2024. Industry insiders say that the auteur has booked out a chunk of dates of Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt from the last week of January.

Currently, Bhatt is working on her production Jigra, helmed by Vasan Bala. A source reveals, “Alia will finish the film by early January. She is simultaneously prepping for this romantic musical. Ranveer, too, has a mammoth shoot in Hyderabad for Singham Again. The duo will finish their respective projects and move to Bhansali’s world. The shoot will begin in February and run up to mid-May.”

After taking a break during the monsoons, the filmmaker is expected to conduct the next schedule in September or October. mid-day had earlier reported that the movie will be shot at the same location in Film City as Bhansali’s Heeramandi. The set construction at the site will begin soon.
