Gearing up for The Great Indian Family, Vicky Kaushal set to join Mumbai’s Janmashtami celebrations in Ghatkopar
Mohar Basu (MID-DAY; September 7, 2023)
While people will be seen climbing the human pyramid to the song, Govinda Aala Re Aala on Janmashtami, Vicky Kaushal will be dancing to the score of Kanhaiya Twitter Pe Aaja from his upcoming film, The Great Indian Family. The actor, who has often witnessed the frenzy of dahi handi, as a special promotional plan for the film, will be at ground zero dancing with everyone this year.
“Growing up in Mumbai, dahi handi was more than just a celebration. It was all about the spirit and unbreakable bonds of the people. I always felt that the human pyramid formed to break the handi was a powerful metaphor for resilience and unity. This festival reflects India’s spirit,” says Kaushal.
He will be participating in Mumbai’s biggest dahi handi event in Ghatkopar. Sources indicate that a turnout of more than 1,000 are expected to join him for the Janmashtami celebrations.
Reminiscing about enjoying the dahi handi celebrations with family as a child, he says, “I am delighted that this year, I get to be a part of that infectious vibe and celebrate it with enthusiastic children.”
