OMG 2’s central idea is praiseworthy. To merge sex education and religion is not easy but writer-director Amit Rai manages to do so effortlessly. The conflict is well established and then the film goes on a different level once the courtroom drama begins. Several dialogues that break the taboo will be greeted with claps in the cinema halls. Also, the Jolly LLB-like treatment will raise laughs. The film ends on a great note. Sadly, it is not as classic as the first part. A few plot points are forgotten after a point while some developments are convenient. Lastly, Akshay Kumar has a limited role as compared to his screen time in the 2012 film. But in the limited time, he rocks the show and is very likeable. Pankaj Tripathi hits a sixer with his antics and meaningful monologues. Yami Gautam is too good as a character with negative shades. Pavan Malhotra is the surprise of the film. Aarush Varma (Pankaj Tripathi’s son) is memorable. Arun Govil, Govind Namdev, Brijendra Kala and the actors playing Pankaj’s wife Indumati, Pankaj’s daughter Damyanti and the sex worker also do well. All in all, OMG 2 is an entertaining and thought-provoking flick.
