Rashmika Mandanna, who was last seen in the Tamil film Varisu, has signed a Tamil-Telugu bilingual film, titled Rainbow, which will be directed by debutant Shantharuban. The film is a romantic fantasy drama that revolves around the life of a female protagonist.

In a statement, Rashmika said, “For the first time, I am playing a protagonist in a story that is shot from the girl’s perspective. I am excited to bring this character alive. Rainbow is definitely such a movie that will both entertain and excite you...the journey of the audience with the girl is going to be a crazy ride, so buckle up all. This is going to be a fun ride.”

The film, launched on Sunday with a pooja in Hyderabad, is expected to go on floors on April 7. 

According to S R Prabhu, who is producing the film, “Rainbow will be primarily shot in Chennai, Kodaikanal, and Puducherry.”
