Swastika accuses producer of sexual harassment, files complaint
HINDUSTAN TIMES (April 6, 2023)

Actor Swastika Mukherjee has filed a police complaint wherein she has accused Sandeep Sarkar, one of the producers of her upcoming film Shibpur, of sexual harassment. The actor claimed to have received several emails from Sarkar and his associates, who she said threatened her “with derogatory and sexually harassing emails”, if she didn’t promote the film.

Talking about the “harassment” she has been going through, the Qala (2022) actor told OTT Play: “During the entire course of shooting, I have never been introduced to Sandeep Sarkar. It was another co-producer Ajanta Sinha Roy who communicated with us. Suddenly, Sandeep Sarkar started sending me threatening emails.”

Mukherjee alleged that Sarkar’s friend Ravish Sharma harassed her threatening to send “morph pictures to pornography websites”.

On why she maintained silence initially as it all began in March, the actor told the news portal that she went to the authorities immediately after receiving the said emails. “If I wanted, I would have talked to the media about it then. I kept quiet because I wanted the release of Shibpur to be smooth. But it does not seem to end. This person (Sandeep Sarkar) is saying I have extorted money. I did not get paid a dime extra beyond what was there in the contract,” she concludes.
