Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan Box Office Collection Day 5: Salman Khan's Film Shows 'First Noticeable Drop'
Box Office India Trade Network

KISI KA BHAI KISI KI JAAN took a hit on Tuesday as Eid period ended in most states and it collected 6.25 crore nett. These collections come in as the film continues to get Eid benefit in many cities of UP and Bihar. The collections in major A centres of UP like Agra and Gorakhpur are still similar day one. So, it means these are still yet to come off and that there are some drops to come.

The film is struggling in North (outside UP) but this always looked the case from the Sunday collections and there was also the South Indian look and feel of the film. There is no South bandwagon and this pan India thing is a joke. So, it is best for makers from the Hindi film industry to keep to a more traditional Hindi format. Also the films which will work across India from the South will be the ones which create a world and don't have that typical South Indian feel to them.

The results of the typical Telugu looking ones can be seen over the last 18 months. This is not to say that KISI KA BHAI KISI KI JAAN looks like a typical Telugu film as there is music and Salman Khan but some of the audience will see it as a film with South feel.

The five day collections of the film are 78 crore nett and with UP and Bihar are still high; there will be drops to come as they hit normal levels. It will be about where the collections land on the second Friday and second weekend and they will determine where the film can go.

The collections of KISI KA BHAI KISI KI JAAN over the first five days are as follows
Friday - 13,75,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 24,00,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 24,50,00,000 apprx
Monday - 9,50,00,000 apprx
Tuesday - 6,25,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 78,00,00,000 apprx
----------------------------------
KISI KA BHAI KISI KI JAAN took another 30% hit as collections came down to 4.25 crore nett and the Eid period came to and end. Some single screens in Muslim centres in UP were still out performing but its a minimal boost to collections. The collections of the film should now see more normal type of falls and the Friday number is crucial if the film is to do some decent business in May which has very few releases.

The film at the moment is faring on very similar lines to the Holi release TU JHOOTHI MAIN MAKKAAR and the costs are also pretty similar. The budget is of KISI KA BHAI KISI KI JAAN is less but there has to be a value for the remuneration of Salman Khan and digital rights are normally a fair representation of that and this takes the cost of KISI KA BHAI KISI KI JAAN to around 200 crore.

The collections of six days are 82.25 crore nett and the week is probably going to end up at around 86 crore nett or close. This means the film can be AVERAGE at best and that is if it manages to collect over the next 2-3 weeks. The second Friday must remain in and around the 3 crore nett mark if the film is to hit the AVERAGE mark.

It is a disappointing that a Salman Khan starrer has not really done well over Eid but the product was never looking strong. So, on that side you take this 100 crore nett plus total and the expected 80 crore worldwide share in the business scenario today. It could have been much worse as has been with many films over the last 18 months.
