Despite working extensively in Hindi movies, Divya Dutta hasn’t really explored movies in the South Indian film industry. But that’s about to change. This year, she is all set to make her debut in Malayalam cinema and hopes that this leads to exciting roles in films in different languages.
She says, “When I entered showbiz, I was flooded with offers from Tamil and Telugu filmmakers. I think that’s because my voluptuous body suited the films. I did one Tamil film back then, but soon I got busy with Bollywood movies aur phir koi South films karne hi nahi mili.”
The actress will soon be seen insound designer Resul Pookutty’s directorial debut Otta. Talking about the project, she says, “Resul is a dear friend, and when he approached me for this project, I said yes. I am playing a Punjabi in this Malayalam film. I don’t have to speak much Malayalam and have only mouthed a few lines.”
Excited to be a part of this pan-India film, Divya also hopes that she gets to be a part of a spectacle film soon. “I am one of those who whistles in the audience while watching magnum opus movies, and I definitely want to see myself on the big screen and see people whistling and clapping for me,” she signs off.
