The PATHAAN juggernaut continues in overseas markets as collections go over $36.50 milion and it will be comfortably over $40 million before its second week comes to an end. The film is now the highest grossing Hindi film in practically every market. Also outside USA, it is the highest grossing film from INDIA in all main markets.
Like India, the film crossed the business in DANGAL on Saturday to become the top Hindi film with collections around $13.50 million. The top film from India in USA/Canada is BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION but that film was released in many formats and did $20 million. This target is a tough one for PATHAAN but its not completely out of the question that it will not reach $20 million.
In United Kingdom, it became the first film to hit the £3 million mark on Saturday. The first million came in 1994 with HUM AAPKE HAIN KOUN and then £2 million was hit with KABHI KHUSHI KABHIE GHAM in early 2002. And now 21 years later, the £3 million mark has been crossed. PATHAAN can go further and maybe even hit £4 million.
Gulf is simply a sensation as the film has a cumulative total of $11 million by its second Saturday and there is plenty more to come. Its the first film to break the $10 million mark in Gulf and has comfortably gone over the Eid 2016 BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN record.
In Australia, the film has cruised past the PADMAAVAT record of $3.1 million and has also smashed the South films like BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION and RRR which were released on many formats and grossed around A$3.6m. PATHAAN's total is A$3.9 million and here it will be the first film to cross to $4 million which should be there post its second weekend.
