Boney Kapoor is all set to collaborate with his daughter Janhvi Kapoor in the upcoming film Mili for the first time. The actress, who made her debut with the commercial entertainer Dhadak, went on to pick up hatke subjects with movies like the biopic Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, horror-comedy Roohi and the web anthology Ghost Stories. Her choices of films, and the way she essayed those characters has left everyone, including her father, impressed. That’s one of the reasons he felt she would be a perfect fit for a survival thriller like Mili, where she is stuck in a freezer.
Boney Kapoor says, “Janhvi is one of those actors for whom you don’t have to choose a particular kind of role. You pick a good script and she will fit into it, which is very rare. The good thing about her is that she doesn’t play the part, but she becomes the part, which was the hallmark of her mother and all good actors… be it Arjun (Kapoor) or Anil (Kapoor). I know how Anil has worked on every role he did. I loved watching Arjun in Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar, Ishaqzaade and Aurangzeb. I have seen Khushi’s audition and she is just amazing. I am blessed to have children like them. Their mothers are blessing them from above — Arjun’s mother Mona and Janhvi-Khushi’s mother Sridevi.”
Ask him what he thinks of Janhvi’s career choices, and he says, “Her films have so far done well for the producers she has worked with. A good performance, a good actor and good returns — this is a very rare combination at this age and stage of her career.”
