Hyderabad: Popular standup comedian Vir Das’s show in Hyderabad, scheduled for November 20, has been cancelled. The actor-comedian was set to perform at Shilpakala Vedika auditorium in Hyderabad. Confirming this cancellation, a representative from Shilpakala Vedika told TOI that the organisers did not specify the reasons for cancelling the show.
A week ago, organisers of the show had approached the Madhapur police seeking permission for the event. However, police officials, said they have not received any communication from the organisers about the cancellation.
Recently, Das’ show in Bengaluru was cancelled after right-wing organizations staged protests against him and accused him of making defamatory statements against the country.
Later, Das performed at Kolkata on November 11 and was supposed to go on to perform in Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Ludhiana and Chandigarh this month. However, the link posted on his Instagram account to book tickets reflected that his standup shows are not available in any of these Indian cities anymore.
