The Tamil dubbed film PONNIYIN SELVAN - PART 1 collected 75 lakhs nett in Hindi on its eight day which is a fair collection and the film should comfortably cross the 20 crore nett mark. It may even get to 25 crore nett. If it can get 24-25 crore nett it will beat the likes of ROCKETRY: THE NAMBI EFFECT and KARTHIKEYA 2.

The all India collections of the film were 160.75 crore nett in week one and the second Friday added around 8.75 crore nett. Thursday was 11 crore nett which is a 20% drop. The total now is 169.50 crore nett.

The film is simlply historic in Tamil Nadu and will easily become the highest grosser in the state. The industry has got an ALL TIME BLOCKBUSTER film after ENTHIRAN in 2010 and SIVAJI: THE BOSS in 2007. The film also crossed 300 crore worldwide in a week making it the fifth Tamil to achieve this feat after ENTHIRAN, KABALI, 2.0 and VIKRAM.
