(Crisp) Movie Review: CUTTPUTLLI by FENIL SETA

Cuttputlli, a remake of the well-made Tamil thriller Ratsasan (2018), starts well and seems like a faithful adaptation initially. It is shorter than the original version and a few changes are neatly carried out. The makers have also added some light-hearted moments and it adds to the fun quotient. However, the United Kingdom has been passed on as Himachal Pradesh in several scenes and it’s too difficult to digest. And the biggest problem with the film is that the climax spoils the show. The last act is executed in a very hurried and amateurish manner. It’s shocking what happened to the makers when the finale could have taken the film to another level. Speaking of performances, Akshay Kumar is fine and puts up a nice show. Rakul Preet Singh leaves a mark while Chandrachur Singh and Hrishitaa Bhatt are decent. Sargun Mehta is quite good while Gurpreet Ghuggi, Renaye Tejani (Payal), Divvya Wadhwa (Ayesha Khan) are fine. All in all, Cuttputlli is a disappointment due to its silly climax.
