Complaint filed against 'The Kashmir Files' director Vivek Agnihotri in Versova

A complaint has been filed against ‘The Kashmir Files’ director Vivek Agnihotri at at Versova police station over his “Bhopali means homosexual” comment, seeking registration of an FIR for defamation and other charges.

The complaint was submitted by journalist-cum-celebrity public relations manager Rohit Pandey through his lawyer Ali Kashif Khan Deshmukh, a police official said on Saturday.

The complainant alleges that the director of ‘The Kashmir Files’ insulted and disrespected his (Pandey's) native place Bhopal by “willingly, wantonly and maliciously calling Bhopalis as homosexuals” in an interview with media, the official said, quoting the complaint. The complainant has sought registration of an FIR against Agnihotri.

Celebrity manager Rohit Pandey has written a letter to Versova police station to register an FIR against The Kashmir Files film director Vivek Agnihotri, for referring to “Bhopalis” as homosexual. Pandey approached the police after Agnihotri gave the controversial comment in an interview. He also demanded an apology.

The complaint was submitted on Saturday morning by Bombay High Court advocate Ali Kaashif Khan Deshmukh on behalf of Pandey. In the complaint, Pandey said, “The FIR should be registered against the director in Sections 153A, 153B, 295A, 298, 500, 505(2) of the Indian Penal code of 1860.”

A police officer from Versova police station said, “We are investigating the case further and have not registered any case yet.”
