There has been buzz over the past few days that Raj Anadkat, who plays Tapu in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, would be quitting the show owing to differences with the production house. Raj had apparently put in his papers and his last day of shoot was supposed to be December 20.

However, we have now got to know that Raj is not quitting the show. A source from the production house said that he was unhappy about a few things, but it was a passing phase, and he now plans to continue with the show.

The source said, “A few months ago there were rumours of actress Munmun Datta quitting the show after she received a lot of backlash on social media for a racial slur that she made in a video. But she continued shooting for the show. Some time back there were rumours of Munmun and Raj being close. That seems to have affected Raj and he was contemplating opting out of the show. He had communicated his thoughts to the production house, but things have changed now. It was a momentary phase. Every actor goes through ups and downs and different phases. Raj’s character Tapu has found a connect with the masses and it is not a joke to just quit a show. Even if he has some other issues, those, too, will be resolved soon.”

Raj joined the show in 2017 after he replaced Bhavya Gandhi, who used to play Tapu earlier. His role as Jethalal’s son has clicked well with viewers. A few months back, when there were rumours of Raj’s growing friendship with Munmun Datta, he issued a statement saying that such rumours have had a lot of repercussions on his personal life.

We tried reaching Raj and producer Asit Kumarr Modi, but they did not respond to our text messages or calls.
