Starring in her first “full-fledged” web series, Haasan on playing a complex character

Shruti Haasan has dabbled in digital entertainment twice. There was a “small guest role” in her cousin, Suhasini Mani Ratnam’s directorial venture, Putham Pudhu Kaalai, and another venture, Xlife, which was part of the Telugu anthology, Pitta Kathalu. However, it is the series adaptation of Ravi Subramanian’s novel, The Bestseller She Wrote, that Haasan believes is her “true” web debut. “I am a huge fan of the web series format and found [the show] interesting. The adaptation is the first full-fledged web series I have taken up. It is amazing to [play a] complex character,” says the actor.
She admits that it was nostalgic to reunite with Mithun Chakraborty after Luck (2009), which marked her film debut “I [was surprised to realise that] I have lasted in the industry for more than a decade. It is inspiring to see legends like Mithin sir, my dad [Kamal Haasan], [Amitabh] Bachchan sir, Naseer [Shah] sir, and Dimple [Kapadia] ma’am work with the same passion and energy [even today].”
Haasan’s untitled Amazon Prime Video series revolves around a banker and best-selling author, Aditya Kapoor (Arjan Bajwa). He falls in love with an aspiring and ambitious novelist, Shreya (Haasan’s character). The project follows what transpires after he has an extra-marital affair.
