FAST & FURIOUS 9 continued its strong run in US and United Kingdom in its second weekend as it held up very well especially considering the genre. The film clocked up $23 million in the US which is a 63% drop its first 3 day weekend and then added a further $6 million for the Independence Day holiday on Monday.

It has taken the film to a total of $122 million and is sure to cross the $150 million mark. It is probably a race to see which is the first film post the pandemic to hit $150 as A QUIET PLACE PART II stands at $145 million and that should also hit $150 million in the next 7-10 days.

The film has hit £11 million in United Kingdom as it collected a solid £2.5 million in its second weekend which is down only 48% from its first three day weekend. The film is also the first Hollywood film to cross $500 million worldwide post the pandemic.

The box office in both UK and US is gradually picking up and there will be BLACK WIDOW with the Marvel brand this week to test the waters further. Both countries have seen a huge vaccination drive which has led to most restrictions being lifted and life coming back close to normal. This has led to cinemas seeing good footfalls after a long time even though there is limited new content.
