There were two Hindi films released on Friday with FLIGHT and KOI JAANE NA and both had very limited collections with KOI JAANE NA being the
better of the two. Its very difficult for these type of films to find
any audience in the present situation but neither will have the content
say like a RAMPRASAD KI TEHRVI which a very small minority will like
and keep it afloat in cinemas for a prolonged period though without much
collections.
The South is seeing better results as they had three main releases with
SULTHAN in Tamil, WILD DOG in Telugu and YUVARATHNAA in Kannada. YUVARATHNAA was the best of the lot as with a Thursday release it got to
around 13 crore nett in two days but the the Karantaka state got hit
with the 50% capacity rule and the collections of the film came down
heavily on Saturday. This film looked set for a good run but still
should manage to do pretty well in the long run.
The Tamil film SULTHAN also fared well with 7 crore nett on Friday
followed up with 5 crore nett on Saturday. These are the best results
seen in this market since MASTER in January which is the only film to
cross 150 crore nett in India post the Coronavirus pandemic.
The Telugu film WILD DOG was a poor fare considering a lot of Telugu
films have fared well. This film featured Nagurjana who featured in some
Hindi films in the 90's with the Maharashtra HIT SHIVA (1990) and the
Amitabh Bachchan starrer KHUDA GAWAH (1992) among others. This film
collected 2 crore nett on Friday and then there was a big drop on
Saturday.
