Will resume shoot of their film in Chandigarh from December 19

On December 4, the shoot of JugJugg Jeeyo came to an abrupt halt in Chandigarh after Varun Dhawan, Neetu Singh and director Raj Mehta tested positive for Coronavirus. Anil Kapoor and Kiara Advani were not infected by the rogue virus but returned to Mumbai in the forced break. Varun and Raj stayed back in Chandigarh while Neetu flew back a few days later in an air ambulance. After 10 days of isolation, the trio underwent a second test. Neetu’s daughter, Riddhima, took to the social media to announce that her mother is now a Covid warrior. Mirror has learnt that even Varun and Raj have tested negative. All three were showing only mild symptoms, with a slight cough, and have recovered well.

“All the places where the trio had filmed were sanitized following the protocols laid down by the state government. The crew stayed in isolation and now that the trio has been cleared, the team is set to resume shooting from December 19 in Chandigarh,” revealed a source close to the development. Varun, Kiara, Anil and Neetu will be flying down to Chandigarh on December 18.

While Neetu has just four to five days of shoot left, the rest of the cast will be shooting nonstop till December 30 and be back in Mumbai just in time to bring in the New Year. “During the quarantine period, they have devised a revised schedule and will be taking things easy on the set to ensure that the post-Covid fatigue does not take a toll,” the source added.

The plot of the film revolves around two married couples played by Anil-Neetu and Varun-Kiara. It kicked off on November 12. A major chunk of the film will have been wrapped up by the year-end. It marks Neetu’s comeback to the screen, eight years after Besharam, which had featured her alongside her late husband Rishi Kapoor, and son, Ranbir.

After 14-day isolation, negative antigen testing, Varun Dhawan, Neetu Kapoor expected to resume JugJugg Jeeyo shoot on December 17 post final COVID screening
Mohar Basu (MID-DAY; December 16, 2020)

On Monday, mid-day reported that Anil Kapoor, Kiara Advani and the crew will resume shooting for JugJugg Jeeyo in Chandigarh later this week (The show must go on?, December 14). Now, one hears that Varun Dhawan and Neetu Kapoor — who were diagnosed with COVID-19 earlier this month, leading to the abrupt halt of the schedule — are also expected to join the team soon.

A source from the unit reveals, "While we resume filming today, Varun will join us on December 17. In the past fortnight, his symptoms have subsided and his antigen tests have been negative. He will take a final test today before reporting to the set tomorrow. The same holds true for Neetu ma'am." The senior actor, who, along with Anil, plays Dhawan's parents in the relationship dramedy, has four days' work left.

Fatigue has been determined as one of the long-term effects of the infection caused by the virus. Keeping that in mind, the production team has designed shorter stints for Dhawan. The source adds, "Unlike earlier when he was shooting daily, Varun will film every two days in shorter shifts, and will continue working till the month-end."
