For the music composer duo, Sachet Tandon and Parampara Thakur, the Coronavirus lockdown has been about music and cooking. “I enjoy cooking a lot. During the lockdown, I did what I always enjoyed doing in free time — read a lot of books and focused on a lot of new music and songs,” says Thakur.

The Bekhayali (Kabir Singh; 2019) hitmakers believe that nothing can beat the process of creating a song in the studio with other musicians. “Nothing can replace a live studio session with musicians and singers. Live is a beautiful feeling for a song. Different vibes of musicians and instrument players add a lot value to the track,” says Tandon.

The duo has worked with popular music labels. Ask them if these labels are an advantage or a disadvantage to a musician, and Tandon says, “It is always an advantage. There are so many things to learn from experienced people around you. There are so many collaborations with different artistes, which feels amazing.” Agreeing with Tandon, Thakur adds, “Yes, I agree. Experience is the biggest teacher. A music label has so many sources and they’re of great help to an artiste, be it any situation.”

A number of senior composers and singers have spoken about favouritism that exists in the music industry. Speaking about the ongoing debate, the duo has a similar look out on it. “Today, wherever we’ve reached is a result of extreme hard work and dedication. Personally, we, as Sachet and Parampara, don’t connect with the word favouritism, as far as our opinion is concerned. A person becomes what they become because of their love towards their passion, excellence in what they do, and sometimes it takes a lot of patience also. We just focus on creativity and our films,” says Thakur

Have they ever encountered any incidents of favouritism? “It’s always a team work. But deciding who is going to sing and who fits the song, is our decision. And we feel happy to say this that we get a lot of support from all our producers and makers,” concludes Tandon.
