Bekhayali duo Sachet-Parampara to tie the knot on November 27 in Delhi

Onkar Kulkarni (BOMBAY TIMES; November 24, 2020)

Composer and lyricist duo, Sachet-Parampara (Sachet Tandon and Parampara Thakur), who are known for songs like Bekhayali and Mere Sohneya (Kabir Singh) and Dilbara (Pati Patni Aur Woh), have decided to take their professional relationship of four years a step further. The couple, that first met as contestants on a reality show in 2015, will be tying the knot on November 27 in Delhi in the presence of their family members.

A close friend of the couple told BT, “They have been seeing each other for quite some time, but we had no clue about their marriage plans. It was during the wedding trousseau trials that Parampara goofed up. Instead of sending the pictures of the outfits to Sachet for approval, she shared it on the friends’ group, and that’s how we got to know about it. We are extremely happy for them, as we always thought that they are made for each other.”

Sharing more details about the wedding, the friend adds, “They wanted the ceremony to be extremely private, so it will be an intimate affair. They have personally looked into the decor and picked shades of white and pink, which are the colours of love, as the theme.”

Sachet and Parampara began their journey as a team in Bollywood in 2016 and have composed music for several films, including Toilet - Ek Prem Katha (2017), Bhoomi (2017), Yamla Pagla Deewana: Phir Se (2018), Batti Gul Meter Chalu (2018), Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas (2019) and Kabir Singh (2019), among others.

We, as Sachet-Parampara, don’t connect with the word favouritism-Sachet Tandon and Parampara Thakur

For the music composer duo, Sachet Tandon and Parampara Thakur, the Coronavirus lockdown has been about music and cooking. “I enjoy cooking a lot. During the lockdown, I did what I always enjoyed doing in free time — read a lot of books and focused on a lot of new music and songs,” says Thakur.

The Bekhayali (Kabir Singh; 2019) hitmakers believe that nothing can beat the process of creating a song in the studio with other musicians. “Nothing can replace a live studio session with musicians and singers. Live is a beautiful feeling for a song. Different vibes of musicians and instrument players add a lot value to the track,” says Tandon.

The duo has worked with popular music labels. Ask them if these labels are an advantage or a disadvantage to a musician, and Tandon says, “It is always an advantage. There are so many things to learn from experienced people around you. There are so many collaborations with different artistes, which feels amazing.” Agreeing with Tandon, Thakur adds, “Yes, I agree. Experience is the biggest teacher. A music label has so many sources and they’re of great help to an artiste, be it any situation.”

A number of senior composers and singers have spoken about favouritism that exists in the music industry. Speaking about the ongoing debate, the duo has a similar look out on it. “Today, wherever we’ve reached is a result of extreme hard work and dedication. Personally, we, as Sachet and Parampara, don’t connect with the word favouritism, as far as our opinion is concerned. A person becomes what they become because of their love towards their passion, excellence in what they do, and sometimes it takes a lot of patience also. We just focus on creativity and our films,” says Thakur

Have they ever encountered any incidents of favouritism? “It’s always a team work. But deciding who is going to sing and who fits the song, is our decision. And we feel happy to say this that we get a lot of support from all our producers and makers,” concludes Tandon.

No one reacted negatively to Masakali remake-Sachet Tandon

Nikita Deb (HINDUSTAN TIMES; April 12, 2020)

While the original makers of Masakali (Delhi-6; 2009) have expressed their displeasure over its recent remake, Sachet Tandon, the voice behind the version, feels no one reacted negatively to the remake. “Even A R Rahman just tweeted a link to the original song. He didn’t really say anything negative about the remake,” says Tandon, adding, “I’m not sure if makers [of Masakali 2.0] took permission from the original makers of the song but it’s okay… Some people can like a song while others don’t (smiles). I’ve just sung the song, the makers will be better equipped to talk.”

While this is the first remix the singer has sung, Tandon believes it is time for the trend of remixes to die out. “Our young generation is craving original music, that’s the need of the hour. But having said that, the day listeners stop listening to remakes, makers will stop making them. The remake of Muqabla in Street Dancer 3D got around 300 million views in a couple of months. So, since audiences are liking remakes, they keep getting made,” says the singer who has sung original songs such as Bekhayali (Kabir Singh; 2019) and Dilbara (Pati Patni Aur Woh; 2019).

A R Rahman’s 2009 composition, “Masakali”, from Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra’s Delhi-6, featuring Sonam Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan and a pigeon, is still popular. Now, Mirror has learnt, that a 2.0 version with Sidharth Malhotra and Tara Sutaria has been recreated by Tanishk Bagchi. Directed by Adil Shaikh and sung by Tulsi Kumar and Sachet Tandon, the music video is produced by Bhushan Kumar.

“A R Rahman created a musical gem in ‘Masakali’ which has been a personal favourite for years. The song is still a rage among youngsters, so I thought it might be a good idea to present it in a new fashion. We got Sidharth and Tara for the song as they look good together on screen and they infused life into the chartbuster,” says Bhushan.

Sid points out that the song is relevant today, when we are all locked in following the Coronavirus spread, trying to stay safe from the deadly virus. “We have unintentionally made a song revolving around two people cooped up indoors and still doing a lot of masti,” reasons the actor.

Sid and Tara were earlier seen together in last year’s romantic drama, Marjaavaan, and Tara reveals that they managed to shoot the whole song effortlessly despite having rehearsed only once. “It was a breeze,” the actress exults, adding, “It’s such a catchy song despite being a mid-tempo tune. Bhushan ji and Tanishk have reimagined the 2.0 version beautifully while Tulsi and Sachet have given it a fun, sexy spin, which I love.”

We are wondering if we will see a kabootar fluttering in this one, too.
