The shooting of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 was on in full swing in Lucknow before the pandemic hit in March. The team which included Tabu, Kartik Aaryan, Kiara Advani, Rajpal Yadav and Govind Namdeo, had been taking all precautions on the set (at Mahmudabad Palace in Lucknow), but the shoot was put on hold soon. While director Anees Bazmee had cited Kartik Aaryan’s hand injury as the main reason for halting the Lucknow schedule, the Coronavirus scare was another major reason for postponing the schedule. The team returned to Mumbai after a week of shooting.
Anees told us in March, “We’ve had to postpone the shoot because Kartik has been advised complete rest by doctors for his hand injury,” adding, “It (the COVID-19 pandemic) is also a serious situation, so we obviously can’t ignore it. But inshallah hum jald hi wapas jaayenge. Shoot toh hamein Lucknow mein hi karna hai and our schedule is also very long. So, we will go back when Kartik’s hand has healed and things have become conducive for shooting.”
Now, the director is set to resume the film’s shoot in Mumbai soon. He says, “We will go back to Lucknow to complete the shoot when the situation improves.” Anees says he is getting a set made in Mumbai so that shoot can resume. “There is a scene of a room in the Mahmudabad Palace, which requires a four-five day schedule. For that, I am getting a set made in Mumbai, replicating that particular room from the palace. We will first shoot that sequence, and some other scenes that we can shoot here itself. After that, we will go back to Lucknow. Hopefully, by then, things would have improved,” he says.
