After successful completion of Uttarakhand schedule, Gowtam Tinnanuri’s film enters its final run in Nov

Mirror (September 26) had earlier reported that Shahid Kapoor, along with father Pankaj Kapur and costar Mrunal Thakur, had resumed shooting for his upcoming film, Jersey, in Himachal Pradesh. The sports drama is the official remake of Nani’s 2019 hit by the same name.
We have now learnt that in the midst of the pandemic, the makers have successfully wrapped up a 15-day schedule in Dehradun with no one testing positive for Coronavirus. Its delighted producer, Aman Gill, says appreciatively, “Uttarakhand government’s policies were very efficient in ensuring a safe and productive shooting environment; all the SOPs were strictly maintained on the set.”
He goes on to inform that though filming was tedious, the work environment was highly productive with Shahid, Mrunal and Pankaj easily adapting to the new normal which did not hamper anyone’s creativity. “Besides sanitising, wearing a mask and maintaining social distancing, everything else was the same as before,” he asserts.
In Jersey, Shahid plays an ageing cricketer who plans a comeback to the game so he can buy an Indian cricket team jersey for his son and make his wife proud. The film is split into two eras, spanning 20 years. The last schedule had no cricketing scenes, but when the team reunites in Mumbai for the final leg of shoot, there will be ample cricket. Shahid will be training for a few days to ensure he can play all the big strokes efficiently. “We have one more schedule planned in November after which the post-production will begin,” Aman informs.
The film is looking at a release in the first half of 2021, and will mark Shahid’s return to the big screen after his last blockbuster, Kabir Singh, which was a game changer for the actor. After wrapping up Jersey, the actor is expected to jump into a series, followed by Shashank Khaitan’s contemporary action thriller, Yoddha, which pairs him with Disha Patani.
