Last week, Coronavirus seemed to seep further through B-Town. Days before his Covid-19 diagnosis, Abhishek Bachchan was spotted at a suburban dubbing studio wearing a mask. The actor had reportedly arrived at the establishment to dub for his upcoming show. Now, the studio has been closed temporarily for safety reasons.

On Sunday, Amit Sadh, who features in the series alongside Bachchan Jr, shared on social media that he is “feeling perfectly fine” but “will get a precautionary Covid-19 test done”.

A day earlier, veteran actress Rekha’s residence had been sealed and the surrounding area declared a containment zone after a security guard tested positive. According to a BMC official, the guard was admitted at the civic body’s Covid-19 care facility in the Bandra Kurla Complex last Tuesday.

On Sunday morning, Anupam Kher announced that his mother Dulari, actor-brother Raju, sister-in-law Rima and niece Vrinda have tested positive, too. The veteran actor’s test, however, came back negative. “My mother is admitted to Kokilaben hospital. Raju and his family are quarantining at home,” Anupam informed. When Mirror reached out to the actor, he excused himself, saying “I am in the hospital right now”.

Addressing the rise in cases, Ashoke Pandit, President, Indian Film & Television Directors Association, asserted that industry needs to be “extra cautious”. “We can’t stop working as many people were jobless in the last three months. But we must be more responsible and follow safety guidelines strictly. Everyone is at risk,” he asserted.

When asked about post-production studios opening up, Pandit pointed out that dubbing and recording studios require fewer people than film shoots. “But we want them to be sanitised constantly. If cases in the film industry keep rising, there will be a complete lockdown on the sets again,” he admitted.

After Abhishek Bachchan tested positive for COVID-19, Sound & Vision India, the dubbing studio, which he was frequently spotted at in the last fortnight, was temporarily sealed. Voice-over artist Mona Shetty, who manages the studio, said, “We took every precaution possible. We have a fogger at the entrance, UV light disinfectants at various points and air purifiers in every room. Our staff constantly cleans the various touchpoints, like doorknobs. We have hired a cleaning agency to keep the place sanitised. We are now talking to the BMC and will do what they ask us to do.”
