Sonakshi Sinha brought in her 33rd birthday on Tuesday, and as expected, it was a quiet celebration with family at home, owing to the Coronavirus pandemic.

“I had never imagined a birthday in lockdown, but I didn’t mind it too much. I have always believed in small celebrations with only a few of my loved ones around. This one was with my family and I am more than happy about it,” she says chirpily.

The actress goes down memory lane to inform that her 30th birthday was the most special. “I brought in the day in Goa with friends flying in from different parts of the country. I started the tradition of going out of town for my birthday three years ago. It was disrupted this year but I can’t wait to get back to it,” she says, adding that last year she was in Lonavala with some of her closest friends and recently, they were sighing over that trip.

To make the day special, Sonakshi’s mother, Poonam, made some of her favourite dishes, including Sindhi kadhi and rice. “I gorged on the cakes people sent me. A birthday is definitely not a day to diet,” she laughs.

The actress has been donating PPE kits to frontline workers in Mumbai and has also raised money for the needy by auctioning some of her paintings. “I have been doing everything I can within my capacity for those in need and will continue to do so, birthday or no birthday,” she asserts.

Later in the day, Sonakshi got in touch with all her friends over a video call. “It was the best we could do during the lockdown and it was a lot of fun,” she exults, hopeful that things will get back to normal soon.

Sonakshi will next be seen in the war-drama Bhuj: The Pride of India, playing Sunderben, who led a team of women to rebuild the rundown Bhuj airstrip when India was under attack during the 1971 war.
