I feel I have made my debut all over again-Sonakshi Sinha

Rishabh Suri (HINDUSTAN TIMES; June 2, 2023)
The non-stop praise for her web debut, Dahaad, plus ‘adulting’ with a brand new sea-facing abode — Sonakshi Sinha, it seems, is riding high! The actor, who turns 36 today, gushes, “It’s been incredible, so overwhelming. People who have not spoken to me in years are messaging me; those I don’t know from the industry have reached out. I was in a restaurant when people walked up to me — not for a photograph, but just to say they loved me in Dahaad. I don’t know how to deal with this right now!”
Sinha says this is exactly how she felt when Dabangg, her big- screen debut, released in 2010. “I feel like I have made my debut all over again,” she says and continues, “The last time I was appreciated like this was a long time ago — for Lootera in 2013, then Akira (2016), and even for Kalank (2019), but not on this level.”
Show director Reema Kagti had said in a recent interview that she has always found Sinha to be a “good but underused actor”. Has the artiste herself felt the same over the years? “Sometimes, but not all the time. I am glad people like Reema and Zoya Akhtar (filmmakers and co-creators of the show) have taken note of that and actually given me a character to justify my abilities (as an actor),” ends Sinha, who will next be seen in filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi.

Sonakshi Sinha brought in her 33rd yesterday with family; revisits trips to Goa, Lonavala with friends
Himesh Mankad (MUMBAI MIRROR; June 3, 2020)
Sonakshi Sinha brought in her 33rd birthday on Tuesday, and as expected, it was a quiet celebration with family at home, owing to the Coronavirus pandemic.
“I had never imagined a birthday in lockdown, but I didn’t mind it too much. I have always believed in small celebrations with only a few of my loved ones around. This one was with my family and I am more than happy about it,” she says chirpily.
The actress goes down memory lane to inform that her 30th birthday was the most special. “I brought in the day in Goa with friends flying in from different parts of the country. I started the tradition of going out of town for my birthday three years ago. It was disrupted this year but I can’t wait to get back to it,” she says, adding that last year she was in Lonavala with some of her closest friends and recently, they were sighing over that trip.
To make the day special, Sonakshi’s mother, Poonam, made some of her favourite dishes, including Sindhi kadhi and rice. “I gorged on the cakes people sent me. A birthday is definitely not a day to diet,” she laughs.
The actress has been donating PPE kits to frontline workers in Mumbai and has also raised money for the needy by auctioning some of her paintings. “I have been doing everything I can within my capacity for those in need and will continue to do so, birthday or no birthday,” she asserts.
Later in the day, Sonakshi got in touch with all her friends over a video call. “It was the best we could do during the lockdown and it was a lot of fun,” she exults, hopeful that things will get back to normal soon.
Sonakshi will next be seen in the war-drama Bhuj: The Pride of India, playing Sunderben, who led a team of women to rebuild the rundown Bhuj airstrip when India was under attack during the 1971 war.

As she turns a year older today, Sonakshi Sinha says she has vowed to not celebrate her big day amid hustle-bustle of Mumbai
Shaheen Parkar (MID-DAY; June 2, 2018)
Sonakshi Sinha, who turns a year older today, claims she is done hosting lavish birthday bashes or ringing in her big day at popular nightspots with the industry folk. That is not to say that she doesn't intend to celebrate her big day - she'll do it in her Shotgun Jr style.
"I don't want to celebrate my birthdays in Mumbai anymore. It's a call I have taken. I would like to keep it low-key from now on. Every year, I hope to head to a new destination," said Sonakshi Sinha, hours before her birthday blowout. Refusing to divulge where her wanderlust is taking her this year, the social media-savvy star said that she will be posting snapshots of her travels on Instagram and followers can keep guessing.
For her 30th birthday last year, the actor had jetted off to Goa with close friends. So satisfied was she with the all-girls' trip that she resolved to celebrate each birthday away from the hustle-bustle of the city. "It was the best birthday ever. It also made me realise that being away from the city on your special days is better," said Sinha.
On the work front, the actor recently wrapped up the shoot of Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi (pictured, below), the sequel to the 2016 sleeper hit. "The subject of the film is such that having a blast was inevitable. We did face a few hiccups due to the weather conditions [in Malaysia], but we pulled through as one strong unit."
It's all work for the next few months as Sinha kicks off Abhishek Varman's Kalank, followed by the Da-Bangg tour in the US and Canada slated for the last week of June. "We begin shooting for Dabangg 3 after the shows. I'm also on the verge of finalising something else, which I will announce soon."

Meanwhile, the actress kicked off the day by sharing a teaser of
her next, the coming-of-age drama Noor which is based on Pakistani
journalist-writer Saba Imtiaz's 2014 novel, Karachi You're Killing Me!,
in which she plays the titular character. The film rolls in Mumbai, this
July. “I can't wait to begin this journey. It's already on such a positive note. Thank you all for the overwhelming response.
That's been the best birthday gift so far,“ Sona posted online.
Here's wishing Shotgun Jr many more gloriously happy returns of the day.

Sonakshi Sinha, who celebrated her 28th birthday yesterday, had her Dabanng co-star Salman Khan throw a surprise party for her at his Panvel farmhouse last night. Apart from her family and friends, several industry folk also attended the do.
Says a source, “Sonakshi had been saying that she loves receiving surprises on her birthday. When Salman got to know about it, he decided to make her big day extra special and threw an impromptu bash in her honour.” Adds the source, “It came as a huge surprise to Sonakshi when she was told to leave for Panvel for the bash organised by Sallu. He is always known to be a good host so he had lined up the choicest of delicacies and a huge cake for the birthday girl. Everyone made merry as they danced to all the chartbusters from Salman’s films including the Dabangg tracks.”
Sonakshi remained unavailable for comment.

Sonakshi Sinha turns 28 on June 2, but the busy actress has no plans for how she’s going to bring in the day... yet!
She’s shooting for the upcoming A R Murugadoss film Akira and judging the latest season of Indian Idol Junior among other things. How will she squeeze in time for her birthday?
She says, “Like every year, I have no plans. And whatever I do, happens last minute, because I usually am busy on or around my birthday. This year, too, will be something last-minute unless my friends throw me a surprise party; they are more than welcome too. Actually, they really should! I have had one surprise b’day in my life and I found out just before the party started!”

While the paparazzi only spotted Sidharth Malhotra, Arjun Kapoor and Vikramaditya Motwane at Sonakshi Sinha's low-key birthday bash at a Bandra nightspot on Sunday night, Mirror has learnt that a special guest was waiting for her after the party.
Buzz is that the actress' 'goodfriend' Shahid Kapoor picked up the birthday girl from the venue of the party and the two went for a long drive.
Revealed a friend of the actress, "Shahid was running late and couldn't meet her while she partied in Bandra with her other friends. However, once the do was wrapped up, Shahid arrived and the two spent quite a substantial amount of time together."
Although persistent rumours claim that the duo are in a relationship, the two young actors have never spoken about it in publicly.
"Shahid is really fond of Sonakshi and the two spend a lot of time in each other's company. Since Sonakshi is in the midst of promoting her upcoming film, she hasn't found the time to catch up with Shahid. So when he met up with her on the eve of her birthday, she was really delighted," the friend added.
Sonakshi, who turned 27 yesterday, celebrated the birthday by getting a star tattoo on her collar bone. However, we can only guess what the gift given to her by the other star was.
Sonakshi and Shahid chose not to comment on the story.
