BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION released three years ago on this date and remains the box office champion by a distance and this is no surprise with over 1100 crore nett. Even in the future, it doesn't seem that these numbers will be challenged though from the prices that the next S S Rajamouli directed film is fetching in the South, it is expected to challenge the BAHAUBALI numbers in the South. But that 500 crore nett plus from Hindi markets is another task all together.
The next best across India is BAAHUBALI: THE BEGINNING and even after that its another film from the South 2.0 and both these films have crossed the 400 crore nett mark. This 400 crore nett mark remains a target for films in Hindi language with even 300 crore nett becoming tough over the last 18 months.
In the history of Indian cinema BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION though still remains second to SHOLAY and maybe behind MOTHER INDIA also. So despite South dominating today it is certain that in history a Hindi film is the biggest film of all time. BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION smashed all Hindi film records in the Hindi markets by margins but it had to be dubbed into that language. SHOLAY set the South on fire without being dubbed. It was in Hindi language and yet, smashed all records of South films.
The top ten sees six Hindi films and four films from the South.
The top ten grossers across India in all languages and all formats are as follows.
1. Baahubali 2: The Conclusion - 11,15,86,00,000
2. Baahubali: The Beginning - 4,18,54,00,000
3. 2.0 - 4,13,30,00,000
4. Dangal - 3,87,29,00,000
5. Tiger Zinda Hai - 3,39,00,00,000
6. PK - 3,37,72,50,000
7. Sanju - 3,34,57,75,000
8. Bajrangi Bhaijaan - 3,15,49,00,000
