THAPPAD collected a poor 5 crore nett in its second weekend though the collections were better than the likes of BHOOT: PART ONE – THE HAUNTED SHIP and CHHAPAAK in the second weekend but that is not really a plus as those films did better numbers in the first week. In the final run THAPPAD is looking at similar lifetime numbers to BHOOT: PART ONE – THE HAUNTED SHIP and CHHAPAAK.

The collections so far for the film are around 25.75 crore nett and it will be the third week when this film gets in the 30 crore nett range unless Holi gives it a good boost and it can repeat this Sunday business on Holi day. The Sunday growth was a bit of a surprise as normally these films don;t grow much on Sunday. This was probably down to two things with one being generally better growth this Sunday and secondly THAPPAD seems to have block bookings at one or two multiplex chains though this will hardly change the fate of the film.

THAPPAD managed to show better collections on Monday than Friday as it probably got the benefit of evening shows being stronger in the metros as its a holiday for Holi on Tuesday. The film collected around 1 crore nett on Monday which takes the film to 26.75 crore nett after 11 days.

The film could now get close to the 30 crore nett mark before the end of the week if it can get the Holi benefit over the next few days. It also has a chance of crossing the business of CHHAPAAK which finished with 32.54 crore nett though that would hardly change the fate of the film. It has done better than PANGA and SAAND KI AANKH but that is not really a tough task.
