THE LION KING was excellent in week one with 81 crore nett. The seven day numbers of this film are the seventh best of the year if we count Hindi and English films after AVENGERS: ENDGAME, BHARAT, KABIR SINGH, GULLY BOY and TOTAL DHAMAAL. A few of these films got a boost from the holidays.

THE LION KING collections are also almost 6 crore nett better than last weeks Super 30 even though day one was around 60 lakhs less. A good hold on Friday is the test for the film because the Friday can hold strongly it has a chance of going to that 150 crore nett mark as Saturday and Sunday will jump.

A jump from a higher mark on the second Friday would make a huge difference. If the film was to go down 30-40% then the 150 crore nett mark may be difficult to achieve. The film has done fantastic business in South with Nizam/Andhra, Mysore/Karnataka, Tamil Nadu/Kerala contributing around 30 crore of the 81 crore.

THE LION KING is a BLOCKBUSTER film as it collected 5-5.25 crore nett apprx on its second Friday. The film has hardly seen a drop in the second week. The main drop is in the South which had a very strong first week anyway. Some centers in the Hindi markets have seen gains from Thursday. The drop from the first day is just a little over 50%. The eight day collections are 86 crore nett apprx

The film will show huge gains on the weekend again like the first week and could cross the business of all Hindi releases this year except KABIR SINGH, URI and BHARAT. The film has chances to cross the 150 crore nett mark.

If we look at all the Hindi and English releases this year then THE LION KING is the fourth biggest Hit of the year after AVENGERS: ENDGAME, KABIR SINGH and URI.
