THE LION KING was excellent in week one with 81 crore nett. The seven day numbers of this film are the seventh best of the year if we count Hindi and English films after AVENGERS: ENDGAME, BHARAT, KABIR SINGH, GULLY BOY and TOTAL DHAMAAL. A few of these films got a boost from the holidays.

THE LION KING collections are also almost 6 crore nett better than last weeks Super 30 even though day one was around 60 lakhs less. A good hold on Friday is the test for the film because the Friday can hold strongly it has a chance of going to that 150 crore nett mark as Saturday and Sunday will jump.

A jump from a higher mark on the second Friday would make a huge difference. If the film was to go down 30-40% then the 150 crore nett mark may be difficult to achieve. The film has done fantastic business in South with Nizam/Andhra, Mysore/Karnataka, Tamil Nadu/Kerala contributing around 30 crore of the 81 crore.

THE LION KING is a BLOCKBUSTER film as it collected 5-5.25 crore nett apprx on its second Friday. The film has hardly seen a drop in the second week. The main drop is in the South which had a very strong first week anyway. Some centers in the Hindi markets have seen gains from Thursday. The drop from the first day is just a little over 50%. The eight day collections are 86 crore nett apprx

The film will show huge gains on the weekend again like the first week and could cross the business of all Hindi releases this year except KABIR SINGH, URI and BHARAT. The film has chances to cross the 150 crore nett mark.

If we look at all the Hindi and English releases this year then THE LION KING is the fourth biggest Hit of the year after AVENGERS: ENDGAME, KABIR SINGH and URI.

THE LION KING remained steady on Tuesday as it collected 7 crore nett taking the five day total to 68.75 crore nett. The first week collections look to be going to over 80 crore nett and it will become the second biggest Hollywood film India in possibly eight and definitely nine days.

The Tuesday numbers are also better than last week's SUPER 30. If we compare with SUPER 30 over the first five days, then it has beaten that film on all the day expected the first day. This has meant that it has higher collections over a five day period and a stronger trend.

THE LION KING is certain to be the fourth highest Hollywood grosser in India though its unlikely to go higher than fourth as THE JUNGLE BOOK numbers seem to be out of reach as that film was holding better on the weekdays.

THE LION KING is doing steady business on the weekdays as it recorded 6.50 crore nett business on Wednesday to hit the 75 crore nett mark. The film has done the seven day business of SUPER 30 in six days despite starting with a lower first day number and SUPER 30 was a film which worked due to its trend rather than initial. THE LION KING has an even stronger trend.

THE LION KING may well be the leading film this week as well. Even if one of the new releases manages to somehow surpass it on day one then it will for sure be the top film on Saturday and Sunday as growth will be exceptional like the first weekend.

THE LION KING will surpass all Hollywood films in India within ten days barring AVENGERS: ENDGAME, AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR and THE JUNGLE BOOK.

THE LION KING held up strongly on Monday with a 30% drop from Friday as it collected 7.75 crore nett. The total of the film in four days is 61.75 crore nett with the week heading for a 80 crore nett plus number. The film is another big winner for Hollywood in India after AVENGERS: ENDGAME.

The Monday is the third highest ever for Hollywood in India after AVENGERS: ENDGAME and AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR. The Monday numbers are in the same range as THE JUNGLE BOOK but that film held stronger as its Friday number was less than THE LION KING.

Although its hard to tell just yet but there is a good chance that the film will beat all the Hindi films this year apart from KABIR SINGH, URI and BHARAT. And if this happens it will mean that two of the top five films are Hollywood releases including the first placed film AVENGERS: ENDGAME. Though its ticket pricing that helps AVENGERS: ENDGAME being top to a large extent as the footfalls of KABIR SINGH far exceed the footfalls of AVENGERS: ENDGAME.

THE LION KING had an excellent first weekend of 54 crore nett and showed an extraordinary trend as collections went from 11 crore nett on Friday to 24 crore nett on Saturday. It went up almost 120% from Friday to Sunday which has not happened before for a film which opened double digits.

The growth on Saturday was sort of expected though maybe not as much as 70%. But Sunday is definitely a surprise as Hollywood films do not go up 25-30% on Sunday and generally films have not gone up a lot on Sunday after big Saturday growth. Here with THE LION KING the dubbed versions performed on the Sunday especially the Hindi version which saw good gains across mass markets..

The first weekend is the third highest ever after AVENGERS: ENDGAME and AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR and it is also the only Hollywood film outside those two AVENGERS films to record a collection of over 20 crore nett on a single day.

The film should hold on very well on Monday on this trend though the kids audience which would have bought the families out in large numbers over the weekend will not be there on the weekdays but this audience is sure to be back next Saturday and Sunday. The film is a sure shot HIT and remains to be seen how big it becomes.

THE LION KING showed extraordinary growth as it collected 19 crore nett on day two. The collections are up over 70% on Saturday and this has never happened before that a film has grown 70% on Saturday which collected over 10 crore nett on the first day. It has happened for films under 10 crore nett but the lower you are then, there is more chance of higher growth.

The highest growth before THE LION KING was actually last week with SUPER 30 which made gains of around 55% and then there was TOILET - EK PREM KATHA which went up 52%. This is for films collecting more than 10 crore nett on day one.

The two day collections of THE LION KING are 30 crore nett and there should be further growth on Sunday with Monday telling how big this film can be. The plus for the film was that it showed huge growth in Mysore/Karnataka and Tamil Nadu which meant South had big gains. Nizam/Andhra and Kerala showed less growth. Mumbai made gains of almost 90% while Delhi/UP was up 80%.
