Mahesh Bhatt’s comeback directorial, Sadak 2, will open on July 10, 2020. The film brings back Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt from the 1991 original, with Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur, Makarand Deshpande and Gulshan Grover as the new additions to the cast. It kicked off recently with its 26-year-old leading lady admitting that she was “petrified” to be directed by her dad for the first time.

“I feel like a tiny mouse trying to climb a beautiful, immense, emotional mountain. I hope I am able to make it to the top and if I fall I hope I’m able to get up again.” Alia shared. “It’s a tough climb but from everything I’ve seen and everything I’ve heard, I know every single step and misstep will be worth it!” The film marks her father’s return to direction after a hiatus of almost twenty years.

The original revolved around a cab driver and his efforts to rescue a young girl who’s been sold into the flesh trade from a brothel lorded over by the eunuch Maharani. The sequel revolves around Sanjay and Alia’s journey to expose a fake Godman, played by Makarand. Talking about his role, Makarand said: “Mukesh Bhatt always used to tell me that I am their lucky mascot, but I don’t know what happened that they didn’t cast me in their films in past few years.”
