Janhvi Kapoor kicked off the Gunjan Saxena biopic, one of India’s first female helicopter pilots to be posted in the Kargil war, in February in Lucknow. The film is reportedly titled Kargil Girl, but is awaiting clearance from the Ministry of Defence (MoD) before announcing it officially.From April 28 in Lucknow the team will film family scenes with Janhvi and Angad Bedi who play siblings and their father, played by Pankaj Tripathi. “They will also shoot near Lucknow’s air force station,” informs a source. Meanwhile, the title of the Sidharth Malhotra-starrer Vikram Batra biopic has been green-lit by the MoD. “It’s called Kargil’s Sher Shah. Both the title and the script have been cleared. The team has now submitted the list of shoot locations for the go-ahead,” added the source.
Shabbir Boxwala, co-producer of the Batra biopic, explains that if you are making a film on a defence personnel, besides permission from the family, MoD clearance on every aspect is vital. “We have submitted all requisite paperwork. The title and script have been cleared,” he says The film rolls in May in Chandigarh.
