Mirror had earlier reported that Varun Dhawan has kicked off his yetuntitled dance film in Amritsar on January 23 sans his leading lady, Shraddha Kapoor, who joins the team in London for a 40-day marathon schedule that begins on February 10. Now, we have learnt that while Varun plays a boy from Punjab, the actress will be seen as a Pakistani dancer with both having spent most of their lives in UK. “The two team up to fight against a common competitor in the dance face-off,” informs a source close to the development.

As part of the prep for the musical, Shraddha is learning five dance forms with Indian dancer Prashant Shinde and Tania Toreo, who has flown in from the UK. “Remo (D’souza, director) was keen that Shraddha learn new dance forms and she is training in Afro, Krump, Locking and Popping, Tutting and Animation and Urban,” the source revealed .

The choreographers have shortlisted some of the world’s best dance videos as a reference for the actress who was last seen in the 2018 sleeper-hit Stree. “When the trainers are not around, Shraddha rehearses with the videos. She was practicing even when she was in Hyderabad for the Saaho shoot recently. She doesn’t have a lot of time before the London schedule which will have several face-offs. The goal is to surpass her previous dance film, ABCD 2,” the source added. In an interview to Mirror (January 23) producer Bhushan Kumar had revealed that the film is not a part of any franchise but will spin off a new dance franchise with the two lead actors. Part 1 will have 12 songs which will be a mix of original, folk and recreated versions of lesser known Hindi pop songs. Apart from Shraddha, the film also features Nora Fatehi.
