After striking a chord with the audience through films like Pad Man and 102 Not Out this year, Sony Pictures International Productions (SPIP) India has partnered with MacGuffin Pictures, producers of the acclaimed A Death In The Gunj (2016), for a hilarious family comedy that unites actors Rishi Kapoor and Juhi Chawla.

Directed by Hitesh Bhatia, who is making his directorial debut, this yet to be titled co-production is set in Delhi and has already gone on floors. Co-written by Hitesh Bhatia and Supratik Sen, the comedy drama furthers SPIP India’s ongoing quest for entertaining and breakthrough content that resonates with audiences worldwide.

Vivek Krishnani, Managing Director, Sony Pictures Entertainment, India, says, “As we continue to ramp up our local production slate with a keen focus on stories that audiences have never seen before, we are extremely thrilled to get started on this family comedy. The moment our partners Abhishek Chaubey and Honey Trehan brought the story to us, we were sold on the idea. We are excited to work once more with Rishi Kapoor after the success of 102 Not Out and promise a fun, rib-tickling, roller-coaster ride that’s filled with emotion and commotion.”

Commenting on the partnership, Abhishek Chaubey, partner, MacGuffin Pictures, adds, “I’m excited about our association with Sony Pictures International Productions, India, for the film. I am doubly excited about working with Rishiji and Juhiji on a delightful script penned by Hitesh and Supratik.” Sharing the sentiment, Honey Trehan, partner, MacGuffin Pictures, says, “As producers, we’ve always been interested in making films across the genre spectrum and I feel this is the perfect film for our company to break into the comedy/family drama genre — a pitch-perfect entertainer that the whole family can sit and watch together.”
