Shah Rukh Khan’s tryst with TV seems to be coming a full circle. The 52-year-old actor-filmmaker, who started out as Captain Abhimanyu on the show Fauji in 1988 and returned to TV intermittently to host game shows, is back again, this time for a telly soap.

Mirror has learnt that Ekta Kapoor has roped in the actor to kick off her reboot of Kasautii Zindagii Kay, her iconic romance show from the 2000s, which is returning to prime-time after 10 years with Erica Fernandes and Parth Samthaan taking over from Shweta Tiwari and Cezanne Khan who played Prerna Sharma and Anurag Basu respectively.

A source associated with the show revealed that SRK and Ekta met at a party recently and he agreed to announce the reboot’s arrival with a promotional video. “Following a brainstorming session, Ekta decided to join in and the two discuss timeless romance on camera with SRK playfully prodding Ekta about her love life,” adds the source.

Mirror had earlier reported (August 13) that Erica and Parth started shooting for the reboot at Mumbai’s Killick Nixon studio.

Next up, the show’s team is headed to Kolkata to film a special track since the male lead’s family is Bengali. Hina Khan who plays Komolika in the reboot, will also join them. Kasautii Zindagii Kay is the story of star-crossed lovers, Prerna and Anurag, who end up marrying different people due to certain circumstances.
