Last week, Yami Gautam began shooting for the fi nal schedule of Shree Narayan Singh’s upcoming social-drama, Batti Gul Meter Chalu, in Film City. After earlier schedules featuring the fi lm’s other protagonists, Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor, in Tehri and Dehradun earlier this year, the makers have erected a grand courtroom set in Mumbai, where Yami, who plays a lawyer in the fi lm, will be shooting for intense sequences for the next two weeks.

“As a lawyer, Shahid will be seen defending a small-town thief in the film which has been penned by writer-duo Siddharth Singh and Garima Wahal. The social-drama revolves around the rampant practice of electricity theft in small-town India and the problems of outrageous bills, in this case set in a North Indian locality, and Yami plays the public prosecutor,” a source close to the development informs.

Mirror had earlier reported (May 25) that as part of her extensive prep for the part, the 29-year-old actress had attended two sessions at the Bombay High Court to understand the workings within a courtroom. Since the summer holidays were on, a lawyer-friend of the actress also arranged for her to attend a special vacation bench hearing too.
