Actress has kicked off work on director Prakash Kovelamudi’s Hindi debut which also features Kangana Ranaut in the lead

After working with Jackie Chan in the 2017 Indo-Chinese action-adventure comedy Kung Fu Yoga and a special appearance in the Saif Ali Khan-starrer Kaalakaandi, Amyra Dastur will next be seen as National Award-winning actor Rajkummar Rao’s love interest in Mental Hai Kya. The Ekta Kapoor and Shailesh R Singh production is directed by Prakash Kovelamudi and written by his wife, Kanika Dhillon.

“Amyra plays a simple, chirpy girl-next-door and began shooting last week. Most of her scenes are with Rajkummar, which will be filmed in Mumbai,” informs a source, adding that while the leading lady Kangana Ranaut started filming last week, Rajkummar joined the sets recently and has even pierced his ears for the film.

Mental Hai Kya marks Rajkummar’s reunion with Kangana Ranaut four years after Vikas Bahl’s runaway hit, Queen. “I’m a great admirer of her work, be it in Tanu Weds Manu or its sequel. We both play unique characters and it will be great to see how we execute it,” the actor had told Mirror (March 6), adding that since Mental Hai Kya will be a demanding film, he is happy to be wrapping up Shelly Dhar Chopra’s Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga and Amar Kaushik’s Stree by April-end.
