Soumitra Ranade’s crowd-funded remake of the 1980s’ classic Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyoon Aata Hai is full of cuss words and profanities in both English and Hindi. However, the film has been passed by the Examining Committee with some minor cuts and an ‘A’ certificate.
According to a source, the CBFC’s new chairperson Prasoon Joshi has decided to not allow the Tribunal to be burdened with unnecessary re-viewing of films impeded by the CBFC, “Cuss words that the Tribunal allowed in films like Babumoshai Bandookbaaz have been allowed by the Examining Committee of the CBFC in Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyoon Aata Hai. Rather than have the film being taken to the Tribunal, Prasoon has made sure the CBFC keeps its trimming tendencies down to the minimum.”
The original starred Naseeruddin Shah, Shabana Azmi and Smita Patil and was directed by Saeed Mirza. Surprisingly, Shabana seemed unaware of the remake until very recently.
