SUPER SINGH (Punjabi) has had a good first week of around 9.25-9.50 crore nett across India. This is the fourth highest first week collections of all time for a Punjabi film. The film had a good weekend and held up well on the weekdays. East Punjab opened at 1.35 crore nett and was 60 lakhs on Thursday which is good trending and the film has good number of shows in all cities of Punjab despite the release of a huge film like TUBELIGHT. The opening week numbers in the Punjab cities are similar to films like YEH JAWAANI HAI DEEWANI and KRRISH 3. So in terms of Hindi cinema this is equivalent to a 100 crore nett plus week. Seventeen Hindi films have managed that and now with SUPER SINGH, five Punjabi films have also managed that feat.
The main Hindi film of last week BANK CHOR could not do well grossing 7-7.25 crore nett in its first week. Still for what its worth the film was not promoted and was long delayed so these collections are actually not as bad as some other films released in the last few weeks.
HINDI MEDIUM grossed 3.25 crore nett in week five and has taken its five week total to 62.50 crore nett. The film will not be adding much more because of the release of TUBELIGHT. The distributor share of the film will be around 26 crore which is more than the cost of film.
