SUPER SINGH (Punjabi) has had a good first week of around 9.25-9.50 crore nett across India. This is the fourth highest first week collections of all time for a Punjabi film. The film had a good weekend and held up well on the weekdays. East Punjab opened at 1.35 crore nett and was 60 lakhs on Thursday which is good trending and the film has good number of shows in all cities of Punjab despite the release of a huge film like TUBELIGHT. The opening week numbers in the Punjab cities are similar to films like YEH JAWAANI HAI DEEWANI and KRRISH 3. So in terms of Hindi cinema this is equivalent to a 100 crore nett plus week. Seventeen Hindi films have managed that and now with SUPER SINGH, five Punjabi films have also managed that feat.

The main Hindi film of last week BANK CHOR could not do well grossing 7-7.25 crore nett in its first week. Still for what its worth the film was not promoted and was long delayed so these collections are actually not as bad as some other films released in the last few weeks.

HINDI MEDIUM grossed 3.25 crore nett in week five and has taken its five week total to 62.50 crore nett. The film will not be adding much more because of the release of TUBELIGHT. The distributor share of the film will be around 26 crore which is more than the cost of film.

BANK CHOR was flat on Saturday when it really needed to show growth of minimum 50% to survive at the box office. There is the big match on Sunday which will affect the film though with collections at these low levels it may even get away with it. The two day business is 3 crore nett apprx.

The Saturday business makes sure the film will not get to 5 crore nett for the weekend. The first two day business of BANK CHOR is as follows.
Friday - 1,40,00,000
Saturday - 1,60,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 3,00,00,000

The Hollywood films CARS 3 and DESPICABLE ME 3 showed good growth on Saturday of around 70-80% and the latter has gone ahead of BANK CHOR in terms of collections with around 1.75 crore nett coming on Sunday.
-----------------------------
BANK CHOR was lower on Sunday than Saturday but this was expected as the there was the big Ind v Pak cricket match. The film grossed around the 1.30-1.40 crore nett range which keeps the total of the film to under 4.50 crore nett.

BANJO had grossed 5.41 crore nett over its first weekend while BANGISTAN was 3.64 crore nett which means this has come out somewhere in middle. The lifetime will be also come out in the middle of those films as its unlikely to have that strong hold on Monday. The weekend business of BANK CHOR is as follows.
Friday - 1,40,00,000
Saturday - 1,65,00,000
Sunday - 1,35,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 4,40,00,000

The Hollywood films CARS 3 and DESPICABLE ME 3 showed big growth on Saturday of around 70-80% but were down 20-25% on Saturday due to the match. CARS 3 has done weekend business of around 4 crore nett apprx while DESPICABLE ME 3 has grossed around 4.50 crore nett apprx.
-----------------------------
BANK CHOR dropped around 40% on Monday which is actually not that bad for this film which had no weekend trend and zero expectations as was ready a long time back. The film collected around 85-90 lakhs nett on Monday. The Monday number wont take it anywhere but compared to recent films like RAABTA, SARKAR 3 and MERI PYAARI BINDU, this film has actually done better comparatively as this one had absolutely zero expectations and is a smaller film.

BANK CHOR has grossed 5.25 crore nett till date and should finish the week at around 7.25 crore nett. The first four day business of BANK CHOR is as follows.
Friday - 1,40,00,000
Saturday - 1,65,00,000
Sunday - 1,30,00,000
Monday - 90,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 5,25,00,000

BANK CHOR grossed around a poor 1.40-1.50 crore nett on day one with Mumbai circuit doing a little better with collections of around 55-60 lakhs nett. The opening day figures are better than BANGISTAN and a little lower than BANJO but with the big match on Sunday and then TUBELIGHT releasing next week its tough to survive.

In this sort of week it would be tough even if the reports are good with the target audience like a HINDI MEDIUM or PINK. The film has some decent recovery from satellite and digital and that is only plus.

HINDI MEDIUM is continuing to do well at the box office as it grossed around 45 lakhs nett on its fifth Friday. This will be its last week where it collects due to TUBELIGHT next week. It has a total of 60 crore nett in 36 days and is looking to finish at around 63 crore nett. This is with tax exemptions. The GROSS business of the film will be around 79 crore.

RAABTA crashed out as expected with business of around 20-25 lakhs nett on its eighth day. The film will mange to cross 20 crore nett thanks to limited competition this week. If there were was a a major release then even this 25 lakhs would have been impossible.
