CHAAR SAHIBZAADE: RISE OF BANDA SINGH BAHADUR (Punjabi) grossed around 40-45 lakhs nett across India. There is also a Hindi version of the film but that has a limited market and will take the business to around 50 lakhs nett. This is double the opening of what normal animation films take in India but considering the mega success of CHAAR SAHIBZAADE (2014) this would have been expected to be better. There is the currency demonetizing issue but that would have hampered it by around 30-35% when it should really have hit the 1 crore nett mark if everything was normal. One crore nett would have been a solid opening for an animation film which is generally a growth genre as youth has no interest.
CHAAR SAHIBZAADE had taken a lesser opening and went on to crosss 25 crore nett all India but did not come with brand value. The film should show growth as families come on the weekend and animation films tend to show huge growth. The issue here will whether the currency issue stop its growth also because if this film does not show growth of 60-70% at least it will be due to the demonetizing issue.
The other films like DONGRI KA RAJA, ISHQ JUNOON and YEH HAI LOLLIPOP hardly collected a few lakhs between them
