Raj Kapoor's 1951 classic,
Awara is set, for a theatrical reboot after the signing of an agreement

Understanding (MoU) between the Indian Council of Cultural Relations,
(ICCR) and China Shanghai International Arts Festival (CSIAF).
Awara is the most popular Indian movie in the last six-and-a-half decades among generations of Chinese who sing the title track, “Awara Hoon“ as “Awaala Hu“ as the letter 'R' doesn't exist in Mandarin.
The agreement aimed at recreating the film's magic, coincided with the visit of Amarendra Khatua, Director General of the ICCR, to Shanghai to participate in the 18th China Shanghai International Arts Festival which com menced on Wednesday. The film version of the Awara will be co financed by ICCR and CSIAF.
